RE: [opensuse] Some OSD information showed in screen!
I agree, but I think the problem is the wrong data reported by acpi. try start go runlevel 3, remove the modules, start X manually. -----Original Message----- From: dwpang [mailto:dwpang@redflag-linux.com] Sent: giovedì 8 settembre 2005 10.27 To: opensuse@opensuse.org Subject: Re: [opensuse] Some OSD information showed in screen! I have an asus 4k, and have the same problem. If you remove asus_acpi the problem go away, the syslog is full of messages about error in acpi lcd (when I can turn on the laptop I will be more precise).

I run SuSE 10 Beta4 in my ASUS A6Q17Va laptop with KDE,my screen often show some information about "LCD is on" or " LCD is off" like OSD,I want to know which program produced that. I try other WM,but other WM is not like that,so it is possible that this phenomenon produced by some program of KDE. This phenomenon was often displayed in my screen, annoyed! How can stop it! Thanks!

OK! I try your method, but kpowersave is still crash! We need openSUSE develop team help us to find which program produce OSD and we will control that program to stop displaying. because I think the asus_acpi kernel module need not to remove.

Open YaST, choose Software -> Software Management. From "Filter:" in the upper left, choose "Search". On the search panel, below "Search in:", tick the box besides "Provides". Enter "kmilo" in the search box and click "Search" ;-) (Yes, it's in kdeutils3). Sonja -- Sonja Krause-Harder (skh@suse.de) Research & Development SUSE Linux Products GmbH
