[opensuse] Resource Locators
An URL used to begin with http:// or ftp:// but I see also others such as fish:// which I cannot "google up". I see also resource locators like about:blank or media:/hda2 Where can I find a list and explanation of these? These are "web shortcuts". The fish:// one I think is specific to konqueror, but firefox also has a couple. For a list of the ones your konqueror currently understands, go to Settings->configure konqueror and select "web shortcuts". The checkboxes select which ones are available in the search box in the top right corner In firefox, I believe the shortcuts and their handlers are controlled through gconf, sadly -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Oh, and I forgot. There is a second class of these things, to which fish belongs: the protocols. If you go to /opt/kde3/share/services and look at the files called *.protocol, they also provide something:// type URLs for konqueror (and just about everything else in kde as well) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

These are called ioslaves and I'm sure there used to be a list of them somewhere in the control centre but I can't find it at the moment. There is a list in the konqueror control panel under the previews section (they seem to be called protocols there, maybe they changed the terminology). Some are self explanatory, some not, I suggest trying a few out. More specifically, the fish:// ioslave is for exchanging files with a machine running sshd.
