It's a part of the video card. The faster it is, the better your screen will look at high frequency/resolution. This information is almost entirely autodetected these days, and you don't *need* to know more than that (consequently, that's all I know :).
what is DDC ?
I'm not sure. Many things are called DDC. What is the context?
And which is better ? SiS 620 AGP onboard (share memory) Memclock 100 ramdac 230
SiS 6326 PCI 4 Mega Memclock 89 ramdac 175
They both suck, and that's mostly because they're built on the same core. The 620 looks like it would be better, but I refuse to endorse any SiS product for any reason. Get a real video card, like an ATi or nVidia.
I use X 4.0..!
I wouldn't recommend that, either, but as they say, `It's your funeral'. -- -=|JP|=- "Why, oh, why didn't I take the blue pill?" I destroyed that card a long time ago to protect the innocent.
I use X 4.0..!

One lesson I've learned in five years of Free Software; do not use a .0 release for mission-critical work. If it works, great, but if it doesn't, wait for .1 to be released.
I'm Stuck in missing DGA Now, I don't know why XFree turn off this feature..
With the advanced architecture of the 4.0 servers, you may simply be missing a module (such as, say, dga.o). What does your XF86Config say about this? -- -=|JP|=- "Why, oh, why didn't I take the blue pill?" Maybe you're right.. But I'm boring in X 3.3.4 that have very bad animation..

The Module is "extmod" -> "libextmod.a" By Default XF86Config has a line : Option "omit xfree86-dga" So extension of DGA is missing, play VCD full screen can't, game that use DGA can't.. Thereis a utilities (come with X), named "dga" it used to test DGA. If that line ^ is deleted, It's still can't use DGA and a lot error messages. For User of X 4.0, try type "dga", and see what going on..(BUG) I hope this is not BUG.. -- Best regards, Syeh mailto:A3@telkom.net -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq
Just my guess. DDC - digital - digital converter higher number on RAMDAC means signal will convert faster, so the higher the number, the better. Samething for memclock. Dennis/sg

Here is the Definition for RAMDAC: Short for Random Access Memory Digital-to-Analog Converter, a single chip on video adapter cards. The RAMDAC's role is to convert digitally encoded images into analog signals that can be displayed by a monitor. A RAMDAC actually consists of four different components - SRAM to store the color map and three digital-to-analog converters (DACs), one for each of the monitor's red, green, and blue electron guns. and for DDC: Short for Display Data Channel, a VESA standard for communication between a monitor and a video adapter. Using DDC, a monitor can inform the video card about its properties, such as maximum resolution and color depth. The video card can then use this information to ensure that the user is presented with valid options for configuring the display. Faster RAMDACs are better as it allows higher resolutions. Hope this answers your questions... Syeh Abidin wrote:

Hello Nadeem, Thank's A Lot. SiS is Sucks, Why I have both VideoCard..! Oh this because I just have PCI Slot (no AGP) Is there Utility to know the truth of RAMDAC, MEMCLOCK ? I think in X detection (LOG)isn't right..! SiS 6326 in manual said has 203 RAMDAC, but X 4.0 detect 175.. I've seen this before. There is a method to force the clock higher, but with an SiS video card, I would trust the X servers' report of the lower speed for safety. What do you call 1000 SiS video cards bursting into flames? A good start. -- -=|JP|=- "Why, oh, why didn't I take the blue pill?"
