Hi all! I tried to compile LUFS, but it needs the kernel-headers package. How can I install it? I haven't found it on the CD. (SuSE 10.0) Can anybody help me? -- Kum Gábor www.kumgabor.hu kumgabor@kumgabor.hu

I think you mean the kernel-source
No, I have installed kernel-source. But when I start the configure script of the LUFS, the error is: checking kernel headers... configure: error: not found in /lib/modules/2.6.13-15.7-default/build/include. please install them! What can I do with this? -- Kum Gábor www.kumgabor.hu kumgabor@kumgabor.hu

/lib/modules/2.6.13-15.7-default/build is supposed to be a symlink to /usr/src/linux-2.6.13-15-obj/i386/default . It is part of the kernel package. The subdirectory include there is part of the kernel-source package. If just the symlink is missing, you might want to fix it by hand. Or run rpm -V kernel-default and see what it reports. The symlink is ok. # rpm -V kernel-default .......T /usr/src/linux-2.6.13-15.7-obj/i386/default/Module.symvers What does it mean? In debian it was easy. I installed the kernel-headers package. Is there no similar package for SuSE 10? -- Kum Gábor www.kumgabor.hu kumgabor@kumgabor.hu

No. At least, not currently. They are included in kernel-source, but you might need to sync the sources config to the binary: #cd /usr/src/linux #make cloneconfig #make prepare-all - -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.0 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Made with pgp4pine 1.76 iD8DBQFDmLiYtTMYHG2NR9URArzkAJ99GfaoxyIhNU1AJb7dDrZq0YrpPgCeMdj8 1Cuc3pSp9zrEpLedPxBh85c= =dNkB -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

I suspect you installed the kernel-source src.rpm, but you are supposed to install the kernel-source "binary" rpm (it's not really binary, but it's named i586.rpm or x86_64.rpm, just like a binary) which contains the actual, prepared sources. Then run cd /usr/src/linux make mrproper make cloneconfig make prepare-all after that, you can install the nvidia driver, or vmware, or whatever else needs the kernel sources to build a module against

Then it could be an error of that configure script. - -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.0 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Made with pgp4pine 1.76 iD8DBQFDmYRqtTMYHG2NR9URAgx0AJ9FuO0OrTBgngRmD/rhQ6RgnzZnHgCeOn3J pDQLF6sbZpSvPhnQp9kforE= =R8fN -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
