Re: [SLE] $99 Netpliance I-Opener running Linux
Hello all, I tried to do this as product(!) w/ the cyrix media-gx chipset. Unfortunately development for that chipset died about a year ago, just days before I was going to spend about $100K on a mother board. I was working w/ Johannes Erdfeldt, (he has yet to return the m/b that I lent SuSE ;) I have not worked on the web site since then but here it is: http://www.thinman.com I since recycled my efforts into two NYC Comp sigs, PUNY (perl/unix integration sig of NY) the Linux Society of NY (really my partner's) http://www.thinman.com/puny I have a pure perl CGI/dataserver product that I built for myself and use every day: http://www.thinman.com/Depth.html I am building a server right now to house www.puny.org, and, despite all the anxiety it caused me last year (caldera and phillips both tricked me into giving them research) I'd give any appendage (almost :) to get that project going again. The cost was to be $200 and would specialize in full business/gaming/educational desktop environments in a set-top box and remote cli/ser's like up power lines or in the deep jungle. That kind of box. ===== John van Vlaanderen ############################################# # CXN, Inc. If I understand the website it sounds like something I wouldn't mind. Just a simple box that would be cheap enough to hang off a server and let me do www and email. It would be able to boot off the network right? Standard ports so I could reuse some of the junk I've got lying around. We're betting that it is." -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
