[opensuse] 42.2 - No default interface in Wireshark
I recently installed 42.2 on my notebook computer. With 13.1, I had Wireshark configured so that the Ethernet port was the default for captures. However, this doesn't appear to work with 42.2. The setting in Preferences > Capture shows the Ethernet port is selected for default. The same version of Wireshark (2.2.2) is used. Any ideas? tnx jk -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Is this a naming issue by any chance. "Eth0" isn't a name any more. On my machine this is now "enp0s25". if you run "ifconfig -a" you will see what your devices are now named. -- A: Yes. > Q: Are you sure? >> A: Because it reverses the logical flow of conversation. >>> Q: Why is top posting frowned upon? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

It actually is eth0 as shown with both ifconfig -a and in Wireshark. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Yes, with Leap421 we gave up the predictable naming scheme and reverted to the simple sequential interface enumeration. I think I saw someone mention that SUSE customers had demanded that. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (0.2°C) http://www.hostsuisse.com/ - virtual servers, made in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
