Hi, Everyone is talking about 10,000 RPM IDE hard drives, yet I can't find one single thing on them. I've looked at maxtor, wester digital, and IBM, none of them have one that I can see. Pricewatch doesn't list any. Does anyone have any REAL documentation on these drives? //I'm going crazy over this// -- Nick Webb http://www.uidaho.edu/~nickw/

Who is? Certainly not me. I was recently grumbling about the fact that the SCSI boys are the only ones with decent spindle speeds. Oh, just some people at my office, and I thought I've heard about it on some lists/irc (not on here, I don't think).

In IBM, look at the "UltraStar" server-class drives, in Seagate look at the Cheetah and Cheetah X15 series. Here's what I have in my machine: Host: scsi0 Channel: 00 Id: 00 Lun: 00 Vendor: SEAGATE Model: ST318451LW Rev: 0003 Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 03 That's a Cheetah X15 15,000 RPM 18GB Host: scsi0 Channel: 00 Id: 01 Lun: 00 Vendor: IBM Model: DDYS-T36950N Rev: S96H Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 03 Host: scsi0 Channel: 00 Id: 03 Lun: 00 Vendor: IBM Model: DDYS-T36950N Rev: S9YB Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 03 Those are both UltraStar DDYS 10,000 RPM 36GB.
