installation help
Hi Listers, I'm new to suse, been using linux for a little while. I have an installation question. I installed suse 9 via ftp on my dell inspirion 3700. The install seemed to go fine, but when it was finally finished, it errors out when trying to go into X. Can someone tell me what program I could use from a prompt to set up the xserver. I don't want to download everything again, it took about 9 hours. Thanks, Bob

Check /var/log/XFree86.0.log and /var/log/kdm.log to see what kind of errors you are getting. You can use yast or sax2 on the command line in a VT to set X up. From a boot, when you see the prompt for the kernel, you can enter 3 which will appear in the box below the choices, this will stop in a VT 0 to let you login and run yast or sax2. When you are happy, "init 5" or reboot if you like and it should give you a graphical login. Regards Sid. -- Sid Boyce .... Linux Only Shop.
