[SuSE Linux] Suse Linux
I 'm using SAMBA in a linux SERVER (suse 5.3) , and having some problems with the velocity of execution of a program DOS from a win95 client (TCP/IP protocol) . Checking the NET with "PING" the time for a packet of 64 bytes is 0.5 ms from any terminal . which implicates a net velocity of 600 Kb/s Question? Is there , a protocol , for example IPX/SPX of NOVELL NET faster than others ???? How can I improve the perfomance of my NET with linux and samba , or must I install other SERVER software with other protocoll ??? Thanks for your answers , and have a good new year............. - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A</A>> and the archiv at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A</A>>
I SET UP A 486/66 AS A SAMBA SERVER just to try linux out. I was amazed how good it worked , I ran some dos apps acrross the network (both data and exe ) and was shocked how well the responce was. The app was usable as far as data access and screnn refresh. I am new to linux , and the machine I set up was used as an exclusive server , no other stuff loaded , only samba. You may want to try this . or5ry I cant help more. At 02:06 PM 1/2/1999 -0300, you wrote:
