Those patches aren't for upgrading from the previous kernel version. Those patches are the diffs between the vanilla kernel, as found on kernel.org, and the suse kernel. I tried issuing the command 'bzcat patches-2.4.13-5.tar.bz2 | patch -p1' from within the /usr/src/linux-2.4.12-SuSE directory, but up came a bunch of stuff about already exsisting files etc etc...and Reapplied etc. I wasn't sure at this point what to do so I thought I'd ask b4 I really fux0red something up.
