Please donate to Doctors Without Borders as danger of diseases like cholera and malaria could wipe out even more thousands upon thousands <snip> This is off topic here, but I think it's a worthwhile post and hope you don't get bombarded w/ nastygrams... It might have been better posted to the Off Topic list i.e. SuSE OT List <suse-ot@suse.com> but the idea is a great one... I keep telling people to send money to these guys and folks trying to get clean water especially as well as vaccines. Doesn't matter if you have food to cook when the water is unclean, you get sick and die... this tragedy needs first things first. -- j nemo me impune lacessit 'Quis custodiet ipsos custodiates?'

Right now, thanks to the generosity of our supporters, our teams are on the ground providing assistance to people affected by this disaster and carrying out multiple assessments in the region in order to determine how MSF can
<snip> they seem to suggest that they have enough cash.... for the moment. I don't know what an elephant costs, but it seemed the reports I saw tonight indicated the difficulties of getting items to locations where they are needed is presently an overwhelming task. Roads, especially in Sri Lanka, and likely in most hard hit areas were close enough to the ocean that most no longer are viable travel routes for trucks and heavy equipment, such as water wagons.. provide the most effective aid to those in need. We will continue to assess our financial needs as the scope of our operations in the affected areas becomes clearer over the coming days. OF course one could donate to Red Cross /Red Crescent ( sp? I spell seems not to have a word that matches ) as well. This looks like a long term project in most of these places. Worse even than S. Florida after Andrew.. And as I recall that took a while to get aid in place. http://www.americares.org/ seems to be one area that is being suggested for small donations. And since I don't have Sandra Bullock's purse, that and similar locations is where I shall have to put my donations . As the man said, even if you only have $1 (us) if a million people donate that it gives the fund a million dollars. Most of us can give $1 or equiv . in your countries money.. can't we? -- j nemo me impune lacessit 'Quis custodiet ipsos custodiates?'
