Updating from 7.0 to 7.1
Ugh. That was ugly. Ok, I got it mostly OK, but now some of the services don't like to start right, like DNS and Postfix. Yuck. Other than just ripping it out and starting from scratch, anyone have any suggestions? Regards, Geordon
I had similar issues after my 7.0 to 7.1 upgrade. It seems that some packages did not get thier scripts installed in /etc/rc.d (the hew place for it all). I simply refreshed the installs of the troublesome packages and the startup scripts were put where they needed to be. I chose not to move the scripts from the old place to the new place as I was unsure if there were other hidden "gotchas" that I was not aware of. Other packages that I had to do update in this way was smartups, and identd. Hope this helps! David On Mon, 9 Apr 2001, Geordon VanTassle wrote:

Try videolan. A new version just came out today on Freshmeat. It works for me on 7.1. Good luck.

Segmentation fault can be caused also if you are tring to play a region protected DVD. If you are playing a protected DVD you need to have the CSS plugins installed. The readme and the FAQ files address these issues HTH -- Togan Muftuoglu
