Opera updated, now seg faulting
SuSE 9.0 Pro Opera 7.11-0 updated to 8.0-4 Today when I did a system update I noticed that a new Opera update was available. Went through the update process, and now Opera seg faults when I try and run it. I've tried reinstalling 7.11 and reupdating a couple of times, but always end with the same result.

Yep. SuSE's package fails miserably. Try the following steps. Uninstall Opera completely (apt remove opera, or rpm -e opera) Download Opera's RPM from here: http://www.opera.com/download/index.dml?platform=linux Install. Your problems should be disappear. This works (at least for me on 9.3)

Huh? It works fine for me.

I, too, am running SuSE Professional 9.3. Randall Schulz

move ~/.opera ~/.operaX then try starting opera from the command line so you can see the errors. if opera now operates as you desire, cp ~/.operaX/opera6.adr ~/.opera/opera6.adr (say yes to overright) to regain your bookmarks -- Patrick Shanahan Registered Linux User #207535 http://wahoo.no-ip.org @ http://counter.li.org HOG # US1244711 Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery

Thanks for the suggestion, but same seg fault result.

If you check http://secunia.com/ , you will see at yesterday's date (16-06-2005), that there was enough reason to release Opera v8.01! I would simply give SUSE time to move to that particular _newer_ version and hope, that it won't be like the youpdated mozilla-suite seemingly forgotten e.g. for 8.2, 9.0 and 9.1, where the last rpms have been build on 2x-01-2005. Yeah you see it well, that was almost FIVE months ago... Pelibali:(
