The disks/memory aren't the bottleneck, with Samba it runs great (67mbit/s upload speed). I don't have made any kernel adjustments, just installed SuSE 7.3 out of the box. "Herman L. Did you ever do any benchmarks of the Disk subsystem by itself to see what kind of performance it will provide?
