Has this puppy worked for anyone? I always get the error message "unable to write to kmixer" and I still have no sound. Using a SB16 with a wavetable daughter card. Admittedly, the manual for 5.3 touches on soundcard configuration by saying "They are configured in a separate step"..... advice here would be appreciated. :) I tried uninstalling the KDE multimedia and going to the generic mixer. It's sliders work, still no sound. Thanks for any advice you have. I'm hunting for the How-To's on my CD's. Just a shot in the dark - do you have write permissions for /dev/mixer? What does "cat /dev/sndstat" give you? Here is my output from that command: Installed drivers: Type 1: OPL-2/OPL-3 FM Type 2: Sound Blaster Type 7: SB MPU-401 Card config: (Sound Blaster at 0x220 irq 5 drq 1,5) (SB MPU-401 irq 1 drq 0) (OPL-2/OPL-3 FM at 0x388 drq 0) Audio devices: Synth devices: Midi devices: Timers: 0: System clock: Mixers: I don't know about write permission. Could you enlighten me on that? Thanks for listening. Steve *********** REPLY SEPARATOR *********** On 8/31/98, at 4:29 PM, Lenz Grimmer wrote:
