Does anyone know why I can't get the sound to work in kaffeine with mpg files? It works everywhere else: ogle, realplay, etc. -- %DCL-MEM-BAD, bad memory VMS-F-PDGERS, pudding between the ears

Maybe that specific .mpg has sound encoded with a codec that you don't have. To see if it's actually a .mpg and sound stream information: file clip.mpg Then try playing it in Real Player.
