I think I'm missing something here in my testing of LVM... I have a SAN, setup two luns each with 4x70GB drives at raid5. Boot the machine and see the luns as /dev/sda /dev/sdb . Run yast2 disk, do 'create' on each as instructed by LVM -- don't format them. I add both /dev/sda1 and /dev/sdb1 into a VG (test) with 64M as the setting. Add some partitions using xfs. I now 'online' expand my raid5 luns to use 3 more disks each. The expansion works and completes on the SAN. Linux continues to see the VG and data in the partitions. The rub, I can't see the new disk size of the luns! The LVM documentation doesn't speak about expanding the raid5 space but rather expanding the VG by adding more disks. Am I trying to do what isn't appropriate for LVM? Either way...how do you handle expanding raid5 disk space? And help or hints would be appreciated.
