Good choice, you should be okay with the Sony! Lee -- --- KMail v1.6 --- SuSE Linux Pro v9.0 --- Registered Linux User #225206 On any other day, that might seem strange...

Aren't Sony one of the guys who are pushing for hardware copy protection in "devices"? I don't know if this would affect linux, but then, those CDs that Windows can't read, isn't hardware protected, are they? Assuming this does affect linux, I would look into a Philips - they don't seem to like the idea of hardware copy protection.... Of course, I could be wrong :-) Hans

For those in the US there is pricegrabber.com It shops the other sites and produces a sortable price list including zip code for figuring out the taxes or lack thereof. Last time a bought a suse distro I bought online from a NY company. Pricegrabber also has an area for buyer comments so you can make a judgement call on the company. It would be nice if they expanded to overseas. CWSIV On Sun, 4 Apr 2004 14:17:28 -0500 Pagan <pagan@nordaki.net> writes:

I ended up going with the sony DRU530A. Everything seemed to go fine. I stuck it in, booted up, went to yast2, selected CD-ROM Drives from Hardware. It found the DVD, so I highlighted it and clicked add. It setup both IDE and SCSI (sr0). Off I went. K3B seems to do DVDs although I haven't done one yet. Just thought I shoot up a response.
