[opensuse] snd-es1938
OpenSuSE 11.2/KDE/AMD 64 bit CPU 1. Where can I download snd-es1938, and 2. How do I install it, once obtained? I have googled and found quite a few references, none of which lead me to a download site. Help will be appreciatedl Thanks in advance. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

snd-es1938 is an ALSA driver for the es1938 sound chip and is part of the kernel, so you should already have it on your disk. Philipp -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Many thanks. Indeed, it's there. However when I attempt to insert the module I get: abnormal:/home/computation # modprobe /lib/modules/2.6.31.5-0.1-desktop/kernel/sound/pci/snd-es1938 FATAL: Could not load /lib/modules/2.6.27.7-9-default/modules.dep: No such file or directory abnormal:/home/computation # modprobe /lib/modules/2.6.31.5-0.1-desktop/kernel/sound/pci/snd-es1938.ko FATAL: Could not load /lib/modules/2.6.27.7-9-default/modules.dep: No such file or directory Part of these messages make sense, even to me, becaise modules.dep is not where the systems seems to think it is, but rather at: /lib/modules/2.6.31.5-0.1-desktop/modules.dep I am completly at see here. Have you tried to change to that directory and run modprobe? Is this a PCI sound card or are you using the motherboard sound? What's the output from lspci? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
