Balmer threatens Asian governments who want to use Linux
A fascinating article on CNN.com at link below. Balmer threatens governments using Linux with lawsuits over alleged intellectual rights infringements. Classic quote from Ballmer at end of article: "We think our software is far more secure than open-source software. It is more secure because we stand behind it, we fixed it, because we built it. Nobody ever knows who built open-source software," he added. Chutzpah!!! ;o) Here's the link to story. Gil http://www.cnn.com/2004/TECH/biztech/11/19/tech.microsoft.reut/index.html

Pete .
Hi Pete, Robt X Cringley did some shows about the 'silicone revolution' for PBS that were pretty good. He seems to have known almost everyone who was anyone. When he got to the segment about OS/2, he asked to interview Ballmer. Steve agreed, but he got Cringley to interview him in his hot tub!! So we got to see way more of Ballmer than any reasonable person would ever want. obtw Ballmer was probably the M$er behind the M$ plot to destroy OS/2 PeterB

Don't give Balmer ideas, he may take a shalale to the next gathering and cause consternation, it definitely would be more effective than his speech. Regards Sid. -- Sid Boyce .... Hamradio G3VBV and keen Flyer =====LINUX ONLY USED HERE=====
Don't give Balmer ideas
Here's an idea and attitude towards Microsoft. "WHO CARES!!!!!!!" The GPL has already proven solid in other countries. Here in the U.S. it has been proven as well. If they were to take Linux to court in any given country. They are only going to run the risk of a court injunction to open their code. I do hope they play stupid (AGAIN) with this. We have a foundation of corps and users on our behalf to fight back, Including me! JD

It has NOTHING to do with money, but EVERYTHING to do with power and CONTROL! Fred -- "Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote." - Benjamin Franklin 1759

TV serie "The Adams Family" ?? (I mean the one playing Frankenstein...) }:-))) Regards, Martin
