Is there a way to burn mp3's to a cd so that they can play on any cd player like an audio cd does? *--------------------------------* | Chris Large clarge@macn.bc.ca | | http://clarge.bc.ca | *--------------------------------*

wav, au and cdda as far as I have read. I got it from the german 'ct magazine some time back. It converts and uses cdrecord to burn the stuff. interested? Juergen

Yes, but the question is: does it tell you when the mp3's you've loaded will be too big for the CD once they've been converted? John

Well, no. It wont. Yet. I think I used it once ot twice. It cam with a lot of other information about burning CD's on linux. Burning CD's includes audio, audio includes mp3's and that requires converting. All very basic. But, to ping pong the ball of argument back to you <grin> I asume that you would not burn audio CD's on random but set up a collection and crosscheck with xmms or similar. That will tell you the playtimes. There is room for improvement, I do not know wether there are tools like "tiffinfo" from the libtiff package that tell you all you want to know about (in that case a tiff-) file. I could imagine to pass that information back to the script, sum up et voilá ... Juergen PS: I wonder wether one could calculate back from the file size. I recorded 2 times 2 hours of radio yesterday, both files have the same size, making 16000 Bytes / second
