Hi, I have cleaned the rpm db (manually - since zypper did not let me do it) from any packages I do not want, and given that clean slate, let's begin there: beta1:/home/salestv # zypper in sensors Reading installed packages... The following NEW packages are going to be installed: yast2-trans-en_US yast2-registration suseRegister opensuse-manual_en bundle-lang-common-en bash-completion uuid-runtime sensors readline-doc perl-doc perl-TimeDate orbit2 openobex obex-data-server nss-mdns limal-ca-mgm-perl limal-ca-mgm libtasn1-3 libtasn1 libsoup-2_4-1 libsoup libsensors4 libgvfscommon0 libgphoto2 libgnutls26 libgio-2_0-0 libfuse2 libexif libavahi-glib1 libavahi-core5 libavahi-common3 libavahi-client3 libarchive2 gvfs-fuse gvfs-backends gvfs gtk2-branding-upstream gnome-keyring gconf2 fuse ft2demos checkmedia bluez-libs bash-doc avahi alsa-plugins alsa-oss PolicyKit-doc Overall download size: 29.1 M. After the operation, additional 61.5 M will be used. Continue? [YES/no]: No way in hell does sensors need documentation. Where can I deactivate the nonsense that triggers reinstallation of everything I previously nuked? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

may be some of these products are needed by other rpm's and zypper only trigger the dependency update. why don't you use YaST?? there you will have a list of dependencies and the way of managing them most dependencies are made up by the original author of a package, not openSUSE, and not always neatly... jdd -- http://www.dodin.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

God love zypper ;-( I feel your pain Jan. Have you taken a look at: http://www.lm-sensors.org/wiki/Download "This is a completely reworked package, for Linux 2.6.5+. It supports all the devices your kernel supports, as it no longer contains chip-specific code." and.... lm_sensors-3.0.1 (182 kB) http://dl.lm-sensors.org/lm-sensors/releases/lm_sensors-3.0.1.tar.bz2 P.S. On the Tyan/Opteron MCE issue. I have the board RMA'ed through Tyan. If I get it back and there are still errors, the only hardware item left is the AMD Opteron. If the MB replacement doesn't do it, I'll still wager it is a software issue rather than a hardware issue. ... more to come... -- David C. Rankin, J.D., P.E.
