Hi. This reminds me of a bug that bit many users: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=702205 You can only be affected if you run openSUSE 11.4 AND the result of the following command is non-empty:

lsmod | grep r81

Note that after 9 months of "fighting", openSUSE decided to turn this into "WONTFIX" :-( Several solutions are discussed in the comments of the bug report (e.g. upgrading to openSUSE 12.1).
