Re: [S.u.S.E. Linux] telnet as root
Where can I get sshd from? And will it work with a windows client like telnet? I normally telnet into my machine from a windows client, looking for a more secure way of using telnet, after noticing the issues raised by people on this mailing list... I looked around on the SuSE ftp site for sshd, couldn't find it. === john bitar cruel@rocketmail.com ---Raymond Doetjes <raymond.doetjes@tip.nl> wrote:
Dear Quincy,
Somewhere in YaST (network administration) you can
switch it on.
But let me teach you a trick. Login as your own account. The type su <enter ofcourse> and then the root
password
the you are root asswell. It is alot saver then allowing root for telnet!
Even better is to download sshd (Secure Shell ) it gives you an encrypted connection (telnet, X server, rlogin) all of the, And it is pretty easy to install and configure.
