[opensuse] You will love this printer/scanner issue
Yesterday the wife handed me a US legal size paper (8.5"x14") to scan, so I dutifully put it in our Brother mfc-j450dw multifunction printer but xsane's preview would only show a portion of the document. Then started about 45 minutes of fighting with printer drivers, different scan software, even something on Win7 in virtualbox, all to no avail. Finally, in disgust I reached over to the printer to remove the document to learn that the scan bed is maxed out at 8.5"x11" and that 3 inches of the paper was sticking out from under the lid. Those are the times for adult beverages. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Feels like when I tried to set up the internal GSM modem in my new work laptop last weekend, which did not even show up as a device... After typing in the service tag on the Dell homepage it turned out to be a placeholder with the SIM card slot that looks like the real deal but does actually nothing....... Will that model scan via its sheet feeder? Sometimes they will scan longer documents that way than when using the flatbed. -- After all is said and done, more is said than done. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

My thought too, and generally they will. I have a 13 year HP scanner with sheet feeder and it does legal just fine through the feeder, but can't from the deck (it leaves 3" hanging out too -- damn, I hate it when that happens...) -- David C.
