[opensuse] Opensuse search comments
Hi, I noticed that the opensuse package search applet has disappeared from my Firefox. I don't remember if we commented about this? :-? But there is an <https://search.opensuse.org/> link. By default it searches using Google (can be changed), but clicking on "packages" it goes to: <https://search.opensuse.org/packages/> However, it I type a package name, Firefox issues this warning: The information you have entered on this page will be sent over an insecure connection and could be read by a third party. Are you sure you want to send this information? So part of the page is not using https. And it fails to find "grub-customizer", which is here: <https://software.opensuse.org/download.html?project=home%3Aecsos&package=grub-customizer> -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. But there is an <https://search.opensuse.org/> link. By default it searches using Google (can be changed), but clicking on "packages" it goes to:

So part of the page is not using https.
Correct, e.g.: ==== <a title="Screenshot of grub-customizer" rel="lightbox" href="http://software.opensuse.org/package/screenshot/grub-customizer.png"> <img class="img-fluid" src="http://software.opensuse.org/package/thumbnail/grub-customizer.png" alt="grub-customizer" /> ==== I'd consider this bugzilla-worthy.

There's a searchplugin (or I added it with [1]) and also you can set a bookmark with this "URI": ==== javascript:q=prompt('Enter%20text%20to%20search%20software.opensuse.org','');if(q){q=q.replace(/_/g,%22%20%22);location.href='https://software.opensuse.org/search?utf8=%E2%9C%93&baseproject=ALL&q='+encodeURIComponent(q);}else{location.href='https://software.opensuse.org/search';} ==== Change the 'baseproject=ALL' to your liking. This so called bookmarklet (and many others, e.g. for Wikipedia) work like a charm. maybe applet is not the right name. It runs in the "search bar" of Firefox, and is called apparently "One-click Search engine", and is configured in "about:preferences#search". Normally you would search for new ones here: <https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/search/?category=search-tools&sort=recommended%2Cusers&type=extension> But I find nothing "opensuse". Maybe it came preinstalled in our rpm and is not "published".

Me too, but I don't know where to place it. Product: openSUSE Backports: openSUSE:Backports project in build.opensuse.org openSUSE Distribution: openSUSE Leap & Stable releases openSUSE Tumbleweed: openSUSE Rolling Release openSUSE.org: The openSUSE project (not the distribution) If I select the last one, I get: 3rd party software Bugzilla BuildService Documentation System Imaging Wiki None fits. Nothing in <https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Submitting_bug_reports> So I type "problems" in the search box. I see: <https://en.opensuse.org/Portal:Support> Nothing applies. If I look at <https://search.opensuse.org/> there is no "contact us" link. There was a page in the wiki that listed different places where to report each type of problem. Where is it? Why is it so difficult to find? Google. "how to report a problem with opensuse web page" Nothing. Ok, found it, cheating: I typed "admin" after seeing the message from Per (which was what I was thinking to do, but). Found in the first 20 results: <https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Communication_channels> Under "Contact Info" it says: To report a problem with this site or openSUSE infrastructure, contact admin@opensuse.org. Please note, this is not a tech support email address. Use one of the options shown above if you need tech support. Man, this is hard to find... And I fear to be sent to github, as happened to David Ranking recently. So I wanted to find a page that says where exactly to report problems with each webpage. Ok, I'll try admin@o.o Done. <https://progress.opensuse.org/issues/70180>
And it fails to find "grub-customizer", which is here:
<https://software.opensuse.org/download.html?project=home%3Aecsos&package=grub-customizer>

Change the 'baseproject=ALL' to your liking. This so called bookmarklet (and many others, e.g. for Wikipedia) work like a charm.
Yes, I remember you commented about those past month :-)

Hi,
I noticed that the opensuse package search applet has disappeared from my Firefox. I don't remember if we commented about this? :-?
But there is an <https://search.opensuse.org/> link. By default it searches using Google (can be changed), but clicking on "packages" it goes to:
<https://search.opensuse.org/packages/>
However, it I type a package name, Firefox issues this warning:
The information you have entered on this page will be sent over an insecure connection and could be read by a third party.
Are you sure you want to send this information?
So part of the page is not using https.
I presume you need to open a bug report?
I don't know yet :-?
What is your doubt?
I don't know O:-)
Ok, I will bugzilla it tomorrow. It is 3:42Am here.
bugzilla doesn't care about the time.
But I do want to sleep now and then. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.1 x86_64 at Telcontar)

Yep, looks like the form action has been specified as http:// instead of https:// (or just //:) - write to admin@o.o and tell us. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (21.2°C) Member, openSUSE Heroes. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

If on the first page I select "15.1", type a search for "mairix", for instance, I get results for Tumbleweed. Then on this second page I select "15.1", go back to the first page (which shows 15.1), reload, then search again, this time it does 15.1. But if I go back to the first page and reload, it resets again to tumbleweed. On the search options I see: show development packages is this -devel packages? show language packages show debug packages What about home repos? And community repos? -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E.
