How to get rid of xconsole on startup
I am annoyed by the little xconsole window each time I log into KDE. Is there a clean way to make that go away? (I am running SuSE 7.1 with KDE2.1). Also, I was under the impression that KDE2.1 provided the option to return to the KDE1 type of "external" taskbar that normally rested at the top of the screen. Is that available, and if so, how do I enable it? Thanks, as always, to anyone who responds to my questions. -Thomas Long tlong@billsoft.com
Hi Thomas Go to /etc/X11/xdm/Xsetup and remove or comment out the line beginning as follows: exec setsid $xconsole -notify................ It is near the bottom of the file I had the same niggle and asked on this group last week. Just re-name it. That's what I did. mv /usr/X11R6/bin/xconsole /usr/X11R6/bin/xconsole_hold -- Christopher W.
