We had many many problems to have the jvm running in mozilla (Suse 8.1, mozilla from CDs - 1.0.1). Anyone with a working config could tell us how to do? I could not activate it with a symlink from /opt/mozilla/plugins/ to the file libjavaplugin_oji.so under the java tree; neither copying the file. Suggestions? HI Andrea, this was dealt with extensively on the list, try searching the archives. The problem is that SuSE 8.1 moved to compiling with the new GCC3.2, but Sun does not make the Java source code available and the jre is thus compiled with an early gcc. The versions cause the mozilla / java conflict. My solution was to download a binary build from http://www.mozilla.org (where version numbers have also incremented) but your search of these list archives should produce other solutions that others have used. The solution a lot of people have opted for has been to grab my Mozilla builds from www.usr-local-bin.org - these are SuSE-oriented RPM packages of the latest non-alpha release built with GCC 2.95.3 so that Java & other plugins work, as well as sorting other GCC 3.2 related bugs. If you opt for this option, please make sure you read the page on the site carefully - it contains important information. Also, if you only use Mozilla for it's browser, consider using Phoenix, also available from my site. Dispite trying everything suggested on this issue, I still coudln't get it so everything works. James Ogley's builds work the best, but even they break some stuff. So I decided to just download mozilla installer from www.mozilla.org, and install it in a different location (the suggested /usr/local/mozilla eg) and use that. So I don't interfere with anything else. All I had to do then was copy the plugins/links from /opt/mozilla/plugins to /usr/local/mozilla/plugins Hans
