configure error - can't find glib2
Yet another problem with a package not being able to find glib2 on SuSE 8.2. I am trying to build gnomedap, and the configure script gives this error message: checking for GLIB - version >= 2.0.0... no *** Could not run GLIB test program, checking why... *** The test program failed to compile or link. See the file config.log for the *** exact error that occured. This usually means GLIB is incorrectly installed. configure: error: 2*** GLIB 2.0.0 or better is required. The latest version of *** GLIB is always available from ftp://ftp.gtk.org/. The config.log file has this error spew: configure:8654: checking for GLIB - version >= 2.0.0 configure:8804: result: no configure:8838: gcc -o conftest -g -O2 conftest.c >&5 configure:8841:18: glib.h: No such file or directory configure: In function `main': configure:8847: error: `glib_major_version' undeclared (first use in this functi on) configure:8847: error: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once configure:8847: error: for each function it appears in.) configure:8847: error: `glib_minor_version' undeclared (first use in this functi on) configure:8847: error: `glib_micro_version' undeclared (first use in this functi on) I have glib2-devl installed. The glib.h file is /usr/include/glib-2.0/glib.h. It includes many files from the /usr/include/glib-2.0/glib subdirectory. I also have gtk2-devel installed, as well as atk-devel and pango-devel. I made a /usr/include/glib2.h symlink and a glib symlink to the subdirectory, but then it complained that it could not find glibconfig.h which I can't find anywhere. Is the SuSE glib2 package broken? Based on the various gtk/glib threads here, it would certainly appear that SuSE's support of the Gnome environment is pretty bad. Any help would be greatly appreciated. /john -- inet: john@wilkes.com | Fascism conceives of the State as an addr: 321 High School Rd.
