I just installed with no prob my new PCMCIA modem but Kinternet is disconnecting after handshaking. It gives error: "exit code 16" it says: "Dont know what to do! man pppd says for error 16 16 The link was terminated by the modem hanging up. Have you configured your modem via yast2 or yast (sorry It has been a long time I set the modem and that was via yast) HTH -- Togan Muftuoglu

Hi, Firstly I presume that you are using wvdial as the dialer which I conclude is contacting your ISP OK. I suppect that you have not got the ppp area setup correctly. I'm not sure how Kinternet operates, but I suggest you have a look at the following:- /etc/ppp/options /etc/ppp/pap_secrets (if your ISP is using PAP for authorisation) or /etc/ppp/chap_secrets ( If your ISP is using CHAP) /etc/resolv.conf Regards, Graham Smith ----------------------------------
