Did it. Kmysql comes up with mysql://root@localhost. However, there's NO data.

Well that's a step closer. I've seen your other post and think you should sort that problem before coming back to this.
From here I suggest you open up a terminal and start mysql. Then type in 'SHOW DATABASES;' This should list 2 databases:
mysql test If this doesn't work I still think that there is a permissions problem. If it does work then it is time to look at section 8 of the manual (location mentioned in a previous post) which is a Tutorial and a simple introduciton to using mysql.
