Hi there, I have joined this thread half way thro so apologies if what I say has already been covered: If this is a SuSE v8 install, you want to check what options are being passed to the kernel at boot as by default one option is "apm=off". Hope this helps, Kind regards, Simon -----Original Message----- From: Oliver Fuchs [mailto:oliverfuchs1@gmx.de] Sent: 10 June 2002 06:51 To: Suse Subject: Re: [SLE] APM-please help On Sun, 09 Jun 2002, Charles Griffin wrote:
The package "apmd" is installed. But, when I run "rcapmd status" I get an "unused" message. When I type "rcapmd start" I get the following message:
"Starting apmd not supported by kernel".
Try first "/etc/init.d/apmd start (restart)"
So, I thought that maybe I needed to compile apmd support into the kernel. I have not done very much in this area, but I next installed all the kernel sources and other files needed by "make menuconfig."
Make sure that the apm daemon is running at startup time (insserv /etc/init.d/apmd or edit the runlevel with Yast Runlevel configurator) Oliver -- ... don't touch the bang-bang fruit -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the archives at http://lists.suse.com -- The content of this e-mail is confidential, may contain privileged material and is intended solely for the recipient(s) named above. Thanks to everyone who responded with suggestions and advice. I will try them all out and see if I can get the apm working on my laptop. I'll report back if there are any additional issues or if I can mark this thread "SOLVED." Thanks again. Best regards, Charles __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
