[opensuse] pulseaudio eats more then 30% of CPU
Opensuse 11.3 KDE 4.5 No music is playin right now, but pulseaudio process eats more then 30% of CPU. Exiting my player doesn't help. Only sudo rcalsasound restart helps for some time. I can't cath the moment, when the problems begins. I just work, sufr and it happens. Any suggestions? Thanks. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Why not get rid of pulseaudio then and use alsa? BC -- Fact is that which enough people believe. Truth is determined by how fervently they believe it. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Removed pulseaudio. I hope this will not cause any problems with sound. I'm not familiar with linux sound approach. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

And so? You removed pulse, but have configured alsa. So, what is the result? BC -- Fact is that which enough people believe. Truth is determined by how fervently they believe it. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I removed pulseaudio, killed active pulseaudio processed and restarted alsa. Sound seems to work ok in the system. At least my player works. I didn't make all possible test, like games and so on. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Well, there you are. Glad to hear that you now have sound. BC -- Fact is that which enough people believe. Truth is determined by how fervently they believe it. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

It works better without pulseaudio. At least some games like BlockOut2 and Glest now have sound. :-) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Every time I suggest that "you" get rid of pulseaudio because it is a pain, I get stomped on and also get told that the problem is not with pulse but with alsa (when you have both installed) :-) .
