Hi all, I have the following installed -- Apache 1.3.12 MySQL 3.22.32 PHP 3.0.16 I've downloaded mod_ssl 2.6.6 for apache 1.3.12, openssl 0.9.6 and PHP 4.0.2 Do I need the openssl 0.9.6 engine ? My Portal site is hosted in the USA , but my testing server's located in India. Do I need to install RSARef ? (We do all our testing locally before uploading to our 24/7 site in the US ) PS I plan to use Devshed'd tutorial for the installation, has anyone had problems with this tute ? From my experience, mod_ssl won't install unless openssl is installed. Dependencies.

I think you do if you run the site in the US, but the rsa patent runs out here shortly from what I recall reading. I forgot the problem, since I read it about a year ago. I think it was rsa is patented in the US but not Europe, and dsa is patented in Europe but not the US. So I think you can make dsa keys in the US with no problem, but whether browsers support it, I don't know. There should be some explanation of this on the mod_ssl web site. -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq

You can just make another identical cert later and encrypt it then. There may be some command to encrypt an existing unencrypted cert but I've never used it. The only reason people don't encrypt the cert, is that apache will demand that the password be entered as it is started in ssl mode. This is a problem on remote servers at bootup, where there is often no one around. -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq
