[opensuse] Not all process get killed
Under SUSE 10.2 I noticed that not all processes get killed off. It seems that every time you log in and log off the gnome, some process staty around. The following process shows up and stay around. 1 S loo 5702 1 0 75 0 - 3585 - 19:23 ? 00:00:00 /usr/bin/dbus-daemon --fork --print-pid 4 --print-address 6 --session 0 S loo 5749 1 0 75 0 - 16975 679756 19:23 ? 00:00:00 /opt/gnome/sbin/gnome-vfs-daemon 4 S loo 5949 4051 0 75 0 - 43591 924792 19:24 ? 00:00:00 /opt/g The above is from the first login. the next one is my current session. 1 S loo 5999 1 0 75 0 - 3585 1 19:24 ? 00:00:00 /usr/bin/dbus-daemon --fork --print-pid 4 --print-address 6 --session 00 S loo 6045 1 0 75 0 - 16975 923495 19:24 ? 00:00:00 /opt/gnome/sbin/gnome-vfs-daemon 1 I am a bit worry, because if you are running over a long period of time and you frequently login and logout, this could leave a lot of processes sitting on the machine. -- Joseph Loo jloo@acm.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

You'd think you could be a little less sarcastic on this list. Go to en.opensuse.org and start looking around (in fact there is a link on the front page). There is a lengthy discussion of searching for bugs and reporting new ones. There are a lot of discussions about many things, and the list of topics just keeps expanding. I suggest the English language site, because that is where most things tend to get written first. If you prefer some other language, there is a chance the information you need might not yet have been translated. -- The best way to accelerate a computer running Windows is at 9.81 m/s² -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Go to your local planning office. Head down to the basement. With a flashlight. Open the bottom of the locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with the sign on the door saying, "Beware of the Leopard." HTH!

Bug 229632 - GNOME leaves stale processes after user logs out
Even in 9.2 there are traces of Evolution in memory after the user is out. Not much of a problem save on this old PII box. Ill have to check on the 10.0 box. I hope this gets fixed soon. Its really a waste of resources to keep these things alive after log out. -- ___ _ _ _ ____ _ _ _ | | | | [__ | | | |___ |_|_| ___] | \/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
