I was wondering if anyone on this list could forward me urls, howtos, kb articles on how I can upgrade my Suse 9.1 personal to Suse 9.2 using FTP edition. I have not played with this yet except to google for answers but to no avail. If anyone could point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it. Thanks Ganesh
Download the boot.iso or floppies (CD image better) and burn / copy them. Boot off them. Using a fast, local mirror (not ftp.suse.com) install following the instructions, and choose upgrade from the YaST installer. Good idea to know what your network card is, you might conceivably have to load a module for it at some point, I forget.
You should be away. Apart from setting up the right ftp connection, it doesn't differ much from the disks

Thanks for the reply Fergus, I booted off the floppy and looked for the network card module but am unable to get any one of the modules to work with my card. I have a Belkin 802.11b wireless card (my Suse 9.1 is using the orinoco_pci driver - I think from realtek). How do I proceed? Thanks Ganesh

Don't know, Ganesh - I don't know anything about the card concerned, I'm afraid. But at that point the process probably ceases to be about upgrading and becomes more about your card & the necessary module to get it to run. Try the list again with a subject line concerning your card and see if anyone else has it working. Maybe it's worth sticking in a spare wired card, if you have one, to get the job done. But before that, if you have a running install, what module is your card using now? Should be possible to get that going from the install, shouldn't it?
