The installation I just made went to usr/java/j2re1.4.0
try this: cd /usr/lib ln -s /usr/java/j2re1.4.0 java afterwards, I had to reboot my pc in order to get java -version to return the new version, as per the sym link. But, I'm a linux novice and I'm sure 100 people here will tell you that you don't need to reboot, but do something else instead. --------------------------- Eric Carbone -----Original Message----- From: Tom Nielsen [mailto:tom@neuro-logic.com] Sent: Friday, June 07, 2002 2:26 PM To: Eric Carbone Subject: RE: [SLE] Java upgrade I have 4 different SunJava folders! You prolly have to make a new sym link. look in usr/lib/java and see where it takes you. --------------------------- Eric Carbone

Downloaded SunJava J2RE1.4 from Sun and did an upgrade. When I run java -version I get java 1.1.8.
How do I link java to the new version?
