Hi ! I have a problem with my Suse7.2 router. I have installed it between 2 existing ethernet networks : a.b.c.64 (netmask :255.255.255.192) and e.f.g.0 (netmask 255.255.255.0). These networks are connected to internet via 2 differents firewalls. My configuration is so : in the router's /etc/rc.config IP_FORWARD="yes" router's /etc/route.conf (= route 's answer ) a.b.c.64 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.192 Eth0 d.e.f.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 Eth1 127.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 Lo Default a.b.c.66 a.b.c.111 's routing table a.b.c.64 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.192 Eth0 127.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 Lo Default a.b.c.66(=firewall of abc) e.f.g.48 's routing table has a line a.b.c.0 e.f.g.5 255.255.255.0 a.b.c.66's routing table has a line e.f.g.0 a.b.c.95 255.255.255.0 e.f.g.5 and a.b.c.95 are the IP addresses of the router. My problem is very strange. When I PING a computer in the network e.f.g.0 from a computer in a.b.c.0, I can have quick answers (less than 5ms) as well as slow answers ( about 1second ) whereas I can ping google within 100ms. It is the same problem is the other direction. traceroute always tells me that the packets are going through my router. Has any one an idea of waht is going on ??? _________________________________________________________ Le journal des abonnés Caramail - http://www.carazine.com
