After a power failure last night (with no APS support on my humble little
Linux server sitting next to me here in work) [and a very small loss of work
- all my projects are stored on my linux area and one VB form cocked up!]I'm
looking to put ReiserFS on my Linux system.
I have SuSE 6.3 with a vanilla 2.2.14 Kernel downloaded from kernel.org.
I've looked at the SuSE site, and downloaded the ReiserFS patch for 2.2.13
(I'll roll back to 2.2.13, if that is the case).
But before I apply the patches then recompile the 2.2.13 source (and
selecting ReiserFS as an otion, I presume), is there a 2.2.14 patch
available?
I then, correct me if I'm wrong, repartition my current ext2 partitions for
ReiserFS support and all should be hunky dory?
URLs much appreciated!
Also full kernel source for 6.4 and 6.3 URLs, cheers.
BTW - is applying the patch just a matter of running 'patch -p0

The ReiserFS web site is at: http://devlinux.com/projects/reiserfs/ Look there for instructions on how to install Linux on ReiserFS. I you want to install SuSE on a ReiserFS system, purchase SuSE 6.4 or read: http://sdb.suse.de/sdb/en/html/tw_reiser.html I believe there is a patch for 2.2.14 for the SuSE kernel and the vanilla kernel.

No, you don't need to repartition to convert a partition from ext2 to reiserfs. You have to reformat the partition (erasing all its contents, of course.)
