[SLE] Kernel 2.2.14 error message - 2nd Request
I sent the following message the other day and have not heard any responses. Has anyone out there successfully used the 2.2.14 kernel on the 6.4 evaluation disk? Thanks, H. ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Thu, 27 Apr 2000 17:16:31 -0700 (PDT) From: Harry Reinert <bc550@scn.org> To: SuSE mailing list <suse-linux-e@suse.com> Subject: Kernel 2.2.14 error message Dear SuSErs: I was hoping to be able to use the 2.2.14 kernel on the 6.4 Evaluation CD on my 6.3 machine. When I try to make the kernel (make dep && make clean && make bzImage), I get the following error message.
time.c: In function `do_gettimeofday': time.c:259: fixed or forbidden register 0 (ax) was spilled for class AREG. This may be due to a compiler bug or to impossible asm statements or clauses. cpp: output pipe has been closed
Any suggestions on whether this problem can be fixed? As an alternative, I've tried downloading the patch from kernel.org, but have also been unsuccesful in getting that to work.
