[SLE] Can't start X as user
Hi everybody. I've got a little problem here. When I try to start XWindows as a normal user I get a message saying: xinit: error in loading shared libraries: libXmu.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory I've tried using ldconfig and have not figures out this problem. I know all packages is installed correctly, as this used to work until I installed some more packages. What should I try next?? I use SuSE 6.4 and XFree86 4.0. If your system has been installed for more that 1 day then the "locate" database should have been initialized so do teh following command: locate libXmu.so on my system (also SuSE 6.4) this gives : $ locate libXmu /usr/i486-linux-libc5/lib/libXmu.so /usr/i486-linux-libc5/lib/libXmu.so.6 /usr/i486-linux-libc5/lib/libXmu.so.6.0 /usr/i486-linuxaout/lib/libXmu.sa /usr/X11R6/lib/libXmu.a /usr/X11R6/lib/libXmu.so /usr/X11R6/lib/libXmu.so.6 /usr/X11R6/lib/libXmu.so.6.0 then just make sure that ld.so is configured to have one of these paths. then just make sure that ld.so is configured to have one of these paths. I have already checked this, and not found anything unusual, it's all
At 20.34 13.7.00, you wrote: there. Doublechecked and it is there. Maybe I should have mentioned this earlier.. but I can start X as root though.
