[opensuse] No ATI Drivers for 11.0?
Listmates, I pondered a question tonight while building and installing the 8.501 driver released earlier today. Are there no ATI drivers for 11.0 yet? Let's see: sh ati-driver-installer-8-6-x86.x86_64.run --listpkg <snip> Package Maintainer(s): Stefan Dirsch <sndirsch@suse.de> Status: *UNVERIFIED* SuSE Packages: SuSE/SLED10-IA32 SuSE/SLES10-IA32 SuSE/SUSE101-IA32 SuSE/SLED10-AMD64 SuSE/SLES10-AMD64 SuSE/SUSE101-AMD64 SuSE/SUSE102-IA32 SuSE/SUSE103-IA32 SuSE/SUSE102-AMD64 SuSE/SUSE103-AMD64 Hmm.., sure enough, 11.0 isn't listed and I don't suspect the 10.3 drivers will work in 11.0. So, does anybody know when the 11.0 drivers will be released or are they already built somewhere? For the rest, the 8.501 drivers seem to work great. -- David C. Rankin, J.D., P.E. I've been using 10.3 packages in 11.0 without problems (interface is still compiled against current kernel). But the correct way is to add http://www2.ati.com/suse/11.0 repository and install packages from there: zypper add http://www2.ati.com/suse/11.0 zypper install ati-fglrxG01-kmp-{kernel_flavour} x11-video-fglrxG01 or use on click install from: http://en.opensuse.org/Ati#openSUSE_10.3_and_openSUSE_11.0 -- Best Regards / S pozdravom, Pavol RUSNAK SUSE LINUX, s.r.o Package Maintainer Lihovarska 1060/12 PGP 0xA6917144 19000 Praha 9, CR prusnak[at]suse.cz http://www.suse.cz -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Odd you should post this within hours of 8.6 being posted: https://a248.e.akamai.net/f/674/9206/0/www2.ati.com/drivers/linux/catalyst_8... I have not checked to see if it supports 11 or not. -- ----------JSA--------- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

John, I was installing the Catalyst Control Driver 8.6 that provides the fglrx driver version 8.501. My check was against the package just released 9 hours ago. That's what got me thinking about it...... -- David C. Rankin, J.D., P.E. Ah, I see. I thought 8.501 referred to some minor point release of the Catalyst package. In their defense, they do say in the page I posted that it should work with anything close. -- ----------JSA--------- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Not odd at all, I just want to make sure fglrx will work when I put the 11.0 update disk in ;-) -- David C. Rankin, J.D., P.E. The ATI drivers from OpenSuSE did not work for me on 11.0. The screen ran very slow and pixlated so I just the used the latest driver/installer from ATI and it worked fine. However, while I haven't run any speed tests yet, the screen seems to refresh slower with the new AIGLX than it did in stock 10.3 . I haven't tried playing with the settings or disabling it yet , but I do have 3d enabled -- In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice; In practice, there is Robert Cunningham -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
