I am afraid you are out of luck with USB UPS on 2.4 kernel, which is what 8.0 is using. According to apcupsd mailing list you definitely need 2.6 kernel. -Kastus

You need to build it yourself - I have never (and believe me, I've looked!) located an RPM of apcupsd that includes usb support off the shelf. It's not difficult to build. As for SuSE 8.0, I have no idea what type of usb support it includes... Kind of old (I just saw the first announcement for 10.0, due oct 6). I'd doubt it, but when in doubt see if it smokes.
