running safari on linux/x86 ?
I've recently become aware of some of my pages looking downright ugly when viewed in Safari on a Mac. It's not exactly a priority to fix it, but it sort of upsets my sense for perfection, so I was wondering how I would best get to run Safari when I don't have a Mac about? /Per Jessen, Zürich

Best solution for checking how websites look in different browsers is the web itself - there's a site that shows you how various engines (IE, Gecko, KHTML, Opera) render your page. Easier than trying to get emulators working! Canb't remember the URL at the moment, though, I'm afraid. John -- John Pettigrew http://john.pettigrew.org.uk/ http://john.pettigrew.org.uk/blog/

Anything that runs on x86 is not a problem - and I still have a Windows machine just for running MSIE. One of these days I'll switch to wine. But a website that would show me how my site looks in Safari, that could be quite helpful. /Per Jessen, Zürich

If you'd like someone to look at it and take screenshots of how it looks. Give me a shout out. I replaced my Dell/SUSE laptop with a Powerbook sometime ago so I have Safari. - Ben -- Faith is the truth of passion. Since no passion is more true than another, faith is the truth of nothing.

Check out http://www.browsercam.com/ You can capture screenshots from remote systems running Windows, OSX and Linux. You can also check interactive website functionality via remote desktop. It is very expensive. However, if you join a group purchase through fundable.org (check for openings at http://www.fundable.org/current/) it is only +/- $25/year for an unlimited features account... screencaps + remote desktop. I highly recommend it. It's easy, inexpensive (as a group) and very effective. And, no, I don't get a commission and I don't have stock in the company. regards, Carl
