Maybe the original "meaningless" question makes now sense for you and it is the only question I'd like to have an answer for.
You failed to mention 15.2 and exact links to the packages in your first post. His question was relevant, yours was not clear :-)
But no, there is no need for ignoring a question. A perfect answer would have been something: There is no need for providing matching module packages because the old module files should be linked in the current module directory and should be reused.
Clear question and clear answer.
But we understood that you were using packages from some extra repository :-p - -- Cheers, Carlos E. R. Well, I have rebuilt the package myself for the current kernel version, because after a kernel update it has missed the module during boot. And this hack called weak-updates isn't really obvious. I can now remember weakly some discussion with Marcus Meißner in bugzilla about the big doubts and what would be the best way when introducing this. But I still can't remember the topic and so don't know the reason why it has been introduced and why they simply doesn't provide matching packages. Also not sure why they put these modules overall in a kernel module directory. When linking (whatever the cause is) the more obvious hack would be to have a separate directory and link from all kernel module dirs to this separate one. Then it would be obvious that it isn't part of the exact kernel version and also wouldn't be deleted accidentally when cleaning up old directories. Yes, but this seems to be not the right place to talk about it. So have nice holidays.
