Installing ISA Sound Blaster on 8.2
Hi all,... I've just installed SuSE 8.2,... What a great linux distro! However, there are questions about how to install my ISA sound blaster AWE 32 (creative labs) on it. I know (as usual,) linux can't detect (mostly) ISA cards. I need it to install manually, but I don't know all those values. They are more than what i set using sndconfig (on RedHat or Mandrake). So, how can i have my suse "say something" for me? Thanks, Adinda Praditya

in the suse manual and in the sdb there are several nice articles on it. Quote: Login as ´root´. If the file isapnp.conf is already in the directory /etc, make a backup of the file first: mv /etc/isapnp.conf /etc/isapnp.conf.bak Create the file /etc/isapnp.conf with the command pnpdump -c > /etc/isapnp.conf The parameter -c results in pnpdump preparing the output file in such a way that the PnP devices are activated straight away. The PnP cards in your computer can be activated with: isapnp /etc/isapnp.conf Under SuSE Linux, this activation is performed automatically every time the system starts. Otherwise, these sound cards are handled like normal ISA sound cards (see the ISA sound card section). -- m. vr. gr. Frederik Vos L4L & VosBerg@SuSE http://www.vosberg.be
