[S.u.S.E. Linux] Star Office locks up
Perhaps this is better directed to the Star Division folks, but I'm not sure if this is a Linux problem or a Star Office problem. I downloaded Star Office for Linux yesterday. I installed it and fired it up. Wow, way cool! Unfortunately it locks up after about ten minutes of use. It seems to happen when I am accessing menus. Has anybody else seen this. I tried both the single user and network installs. If I get an answer from the Star Office folks I'll post it here FYI. Well, I found a NG for Linux/Unix. I feel better that I am not alone. It seems that there is a PS/2 mouse problem with Star Office. One of the things that I found was that I needed to upgrade the libc.so.5.4.33 to 5.4.44. I ran into another problem doing that. That's another thread. I hope you all don't mind my talking to myself here. I did find that the problem was the mouse I was using. The libc.so.5.4.44 didn't fix it. There is a patch out on Star Division's page that I would like to try, if I could only figure out how to get my Intellimouse back in the system :-( The reason I am posting this here is because it may help a S.u.S.E user avoid the same pain that I am going through. I started another thread about my rodent woes that has a more relevant title. BTW, Star Office is looking really good now that it is reasonably stable. Lots of cool features. When they get it SSL enabled for client side certificate authentication I will never need another office suite. I have had a couple of 'controlled' crashes in which all my data was recovered. Not sure what's up with that. Steve
