Monitor not detected during Suse 8.1 Installation
Hello I installed Suse 8.1 on my machine but the installation failed to find my monitor model (Dell 15 inch flat screen e151fp). As a result it choose a default model with a very high resolution 640x480. I have tried everything I can think of trying to change this resolution to a higher size eg 1024x780. I tried using yast2 and sax but they didnt work, if I choose a default monitor with a resolution of 1024x780 it fails the validation test. The only resolution size that doesnt fail is 640x480. I also tried to edit the XF86Config file but that didnt work either. In addition to what was asked above, I want to as if the monitor detection in SuSE 8.1 is broken? I have an AST Vision7L monitor that had no problems with autodetection in the past but now SuSE 8.1 cannot detect the monitor. In fact, I get a similar result for all my monitors. Eddie
Hello John, Shut down x-server (rcxdm stop as root). Then you have to set up you monitor using sax2 -l. Try very low horizontal and vertical freq. and then increase them step by step. I had similar experience, it's possible to get 1024x780 16bit depth. Greetings, Nikola On Thursday 01 January 1970 01:00, John Paul O'Grady wrote:

And, yes, uninstall all special graphic drivers from X11 section if you installed any. Nikola On Monday 24 February 2003 16:01, Nikola Lecic wrote:
