From this moment on (could of course be coincidence) the machine started to 'eat' ram. That is: after a reboot is claims (top) to have 54000K used, and 74000 free. (approx.)
The used number from then on starts to increase. Rebooted yesterday, and within 10 hours used memory was above 110000K, used swap memory started to increase. But the machine was only being used as a web server, and it was not busy at all. (there was really nothing much going on) If I don't reboot the server, it crashes after a while. (we have been experiencing complete crashes, lately. I assume now that these were caused by this memory problem) (now I've always rebooted before there was no memory left, because a crashed server means: rebuilding the raid partition, etc) We've had two crashes in a week, since these upgrades/adjustments. (nt runs more stable, now!!) More info: it a Compaq prosignia, software raid [old mdutils], 128M internal memory (it needs the mem=128M kernel parameter), root is normal fs2, /home is raid1. It used as a web server, dhcp server, it's also running samba. Kernel 2.2.17. SuSE 6.2. Well, that's about it, I guess. Please, any information will be appreciated.

Enforcing 'Poltically Correct' stifles free speech.... Many words are gender neutral: man, mankind, 'Sir', 'Officer', 'guys' etc....
