[opensuse] 11.0 kde3.5 "KDEInit could not launch '/opt/kde3/bin/kwite'." Huh?
Listmates, After the latest "whatever" that messed up Ciro's notes and my menus in kde3, I am encountering more mysterious behavior. Today, kwrite will not launch from Alt+F2 ?? The error is: KDEInit could not launch '/opt/kde3/bin/kwite'. I also cannot launch it from the menu. I've tried with both simple 'kwrite' and '/opt/kde3/bin/kwrite'. Bewilderingly, kwrite launches just fine from the command line. With i.e. 'kwrite &'. What to check? I use kwrite for just about everything as my 'quick dump notepad'. (mainly due to it's ability to manipulate text, reformat, join lines, etc..) If I have text from browsing/comparing notes/etc.. that I need to put somewhere for a minute or two, I just launch kwrite from kicker and use it as a quick temporary notepad. Now, it's like I'm out of paper. Beyond just addressing this kwrite issue, does anyone have a handle on what update is causing the menu loss, notes loss, difficulty launching kwrite, etc? -- David C.
